Ulysse Nardin – For Those Who Like Astronomic Wristwatches
Ulysse Nardin founded his company in 1846. Sea chronographs manufactured by the brand were of highquality and this contributed to great success of the company.
Ulysse Nardin had fantastic success up to the second half of the 20th century.
Then electronic mechanisms replaced sea instruments. This made Ulysse Nardin to give up development of sea chronographs and the brand began production of collector’s wristwatches. The new period in the company’s history began in 1983 when the company lost its popularity and was bought by Rolf Schneider. Though Rolf Schneider did not know much about watches, he contributed much to the brand’s popularity by partnership with the such great watch makers as Ludwig Oechslin.
Ludwig Oechslin managed to convince Schneider, who was looking for new ideas, to start manufacture of astronomic chronographs. Thus cooperation between two great personalities started and it resulted in birth of the brilliant trilogy: Tellurium Johannes Kepler, Astrolabium Galileo Galilei and Planetarium Nicolas Kopernicus. These timepieces amaze by their great design and interesting complications.
The Perpetual Ludovice GMT is known as one of the cutest Ulysse Nardin timepieces, this wristwatch has second time zone and also other complications.
Other awesome watch model by UN is the Freak wristwatch that was released in 2002. This is the most unusual tourbillion ever created. Among other features of this wristwatch there is a triggering mechanism.
The Sonata watch that is also great, was released in 2003. This mechanical alarm clock with a fantastic sound appeared due to the nice combination of Ludwig Oechslin’s knowledge and talent of watch makers from Ulysse Nardin.
2010 was marked by development of the El Toro wristwatch. The El Toro possesses beautiful design and lots of great functions. The El Toro features a gold or platinum case that makes the timepiece look very luxurious. The movement of the watch can be seen through the transparent case back. The owner of this wristwatch does not have to take it off for swimming – it is waterproof to 100 m. The watch features a beautiful rubber or crocodile leather strap. The El Toro is limited to 500 pieces. The El Toro watch model is really great, like all other timepieces by Ulysse Nardin.
