Western fusion into Indian fashion

Indian culture has a very proud and long history to it. Sarees and dhotis are the main traditional dresses in the Indian culture. Even the invasions of westerners in the early ages could not change these traditions in the Indian community. But in recent times the amalgamation of Indian and western clothing has given a new way to Indian fashion designs. T-shirts, trousers and shirts has become a part of Indian clothing in the recent times. This may be because of the globalization or might be the simple reason of comfort and fashion.

The mixing of both traditions has made some marvelous designs to the fashion world. For example, usage of traditional embroidery methods for the western dresses has given some beautiful designs. Another very famous western-Indian dress is the modern “kurta”. It is a combination of western style denim and a traditional “kurta”.
Mainly the casual fashion has been affected by this new trend. Nowadays the salwar kameez is used with a western pant. This is very popular especially among young generation. Even then, it is not only the casual wear has taken this turn; even the bridal wear has been changed with this trend. For example the sarees which have been used in weddings are draped in Grecian style.
This new western fused Indian dressing has become a very successful trend mainly because it fits the Indian body shape perfectly and it is easy and comfortable to wear. If any fashion trend is not fitting that culture and traditions, it will not last long in the society. Even though it has become a success, the designers have to make sure that they do not over do it. Too much westernization can lead to disaster in a highly cultural oriented society such as India. Keeping the right blend is the order of the day.
